Reality TV star and makeup entrepreneur Kylie Jenner, 24, arrived at the Met Gala in New York in a white dress reminiscent of a wedding dress. The look included a gorgeous tulle skirt and a translucent t-shirt at the top. The cap on Jenner’s head and the short veil brought an edge to the whole.
Vogue writes that the suit was designed by renowned designer Virgil Abloh . Abloh died last November. Abloh was the founder of the Off-White fashion brand, and the name of the brand was reminiscent of the Off logo on the shirt in Jenner’s look. According to Vogue, Jenner’s choice to wear a wedding dress with a personal twist to the Met Gala is reminiscent of Abloh’s character-breaking spirit.
Jenner arrived at the event alone without her beloved Travis Scott . The couple had their second child in February. Other women in the Kardashian-Jenner family were also present at the Met Gala.
The theme for this year’s Met Gala was “gilded glamor,” which refers to the so-called gilded era in the United States from 1870 to 1890. This was a time of prosperity, growth and industrialization, and in clothing this was reflected in abundant ornamentation. The Met Gala is an annual fashion event that raises funds for the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
